domesticated

Well saying goodbye to my grandma was so hard. I basically cried the entire time. I have to say thank you to my wonderful supportive boyfriend Kamas for holding my hand through it all and a huge thanks to my family for knowing just how I felt and everything they did for me. Amazing people I have in my life. <3

We are now serious house hunters. We got pre approved and are looking for something borderline perfect. We want 3 bed 2 bath preferably with a yard to make a masterpiece & have a dog. Since we've been looking, Ive had this urge to get everything in order. and since Ive had this urge, I feel like Im being more domesticated. haha I say that jokingly but in all seriousness I feel like Im becoming more of an adult women. Which all in it self makes me feel amazing. So Im going to share some of things Im doing around our house to make me feel so accomplished.
* Cook Book. Finally getting around to getting our cook book done! Ive found all these fantastic recipes from The Pioneer Women, Ree Drummond. Here is the link to her website http://thepioneerwoman.com/, Its AWESOME. Ive broke down food categories to everything I can possibly think of. Go tab dividers and its all labeled in a binder waiting for me to fill it. My plan is to get the recipes to all the same basic layout, which means some of them Im going to have to retype myself. but I feel like if they are the same then I can just find it without a problem. Im still contemplating whether or not I am actually going to put every recipe inside a sleeve or not. If I do it could possibly save a recipe from being destroyed from a spill. Ill just have to test it with my tab dividers.
*Cooking Dinner. With doing that cook book, its made me realize I want to start making more at home dinners. Sometimes its really hard and others I know exactly what I want to do. But so far this is day 4 of cooking and Im loving it! Also something that I think will help me, is having a planner, I can plan a week of dinners at a time and see what we had last week, what not to do this week. Some of them I really like having preplanned so I can get it all ready in the morning and either stick it in the crock-pot in the morning or know what I need to do right when I get home. Kam is so great too, because hell help me cook every once and a while. I love just cooking and talking to him about the day and whats going on. He puts a smile on my face :)
*Gardening. crazy to hear those words come out of my mouth. but I have planted an herb garden! I cant wait till we actually have a place of our own so that I can plant veggies & make more homemade recipes.
*Homemade Baking. I am attempting to make my own bread, flour tortillas and whatever else comes to mind! I think this will potienally save us some pennies in the end and who doesnt love homemade stuff?
*Getting Out Of The Grove. I want to try new things. For example, Last night I made a new kind of potatoes for our friend cubed steaks last night. Heres the link to them http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2010/05/restaurant-style-smashed-potatoes/ They were DELICIOUS! Kam mixed everything together for me, but I put my red potatoes (which I love) in the crock-pot on my lunch and set it on the lowest setting possible when I got home they were all ready to be delicious. I tried a new recipe AND green onion. Which I happened to love as well. So when I make individual pot pies tonight I am going to put green onion in them, which works well because thats what we are growing too! Today I put a can of sweetened condensed milk in the crock pot and hopefully when I get home from work its gonna be caramel! Something new.
* Coupons. In ALL reality, coupons takes so much time. but IT IS worth it. I have a binder with baseball card holders in there with that broke down by tab dividers into everything I could think of and Im slowly starting to collect some coupons. My thing is, If Im not gonna use it dont cut it. simple enough.
*Scrapbooking. I love to be creative and scrapbooking makes me feel good. Looking through all my memories. I want to be able to pass those kind of things onto my kids and grand-kids when I get old. I have decided, Im just going to scrapbook what I have available, since most of my childhood pictures are at my parents. One weekend I go down Ill go through it with my mom again and get all the stuff I want to include.
*Inspiration Book. Thank you Bethany Ever After on Bravo! They just bought a GORGEOUS apartment and have all these designers, the thing that hit me the most about this episode is she just handed over a binder to a designer that she called her inspiration book. She went on to describe it, and I fell in love with the idea. She has a binder of all of the looks and things she loves and wants in a house. So what have I been doing!? creating our own Inspiration Book. Now we arent going to hire a designer by any means. so Its mostly DIY stuff that I know Kam and I can do. Ill have to show you some pages when I get further along

AND I know this is all kinda making me sound like I am an old lady BUT I have started crocheting. and I love it. Being the over achiever I am, I have decided I am making a queen sized blanket. It might end up taking me a life time to make but I love it. Next time I post, Which I promise, I am trying to do atleast twice a month I will show you all pictures :)

Until then Im going to watch the rain fall and day dream about decorating.
